You’ve read on the blog before that i’m a big fan of the Beermat Books. They’re always written in a very down-to-earth manner and Marketing on a Beermat is no different.
Chris West has been involved in writing all the Beermat Books and has a great knack (as I mentioned earlier) of taking important aspects of running a business and making them simple-to-understand. What’s different about Marketing on a Beermat is that Chris is a marketer and he knows his stuff!
I would say this book is aimed at start-up type businesses or early stage businesses. It starts out by explaining what marketing is, looks at the mindset and then goes on to talk about the journey businesses go through with their marketing as their businesses grow and prosper.
I think the best aspect of the book is the way Chris gave us a cast list at the start which was basically five different types of businesses and how they all approach marketing in different ways. I think what he chose would mean that most people would be able to identify with at least one business from the cast list and be able to look at the techniques employed to that specific business.

He also talks a little about online marketing but to be honest it’s not the main focus of this book but he does make some very good points for example about how to approach your website.
I honestly do this that all the Beermat Books should be essential reading for any budding entrepreneur and they all help to establish the basics and set you out on the right track. A big thumbs up for me
